"Funky Bones" by Atelier Van Lieshout Image description: Outside at the Indiana Museum of Art. A large sculpture of a skeleton laid out on the ground. I am pictured sitting on the ribcage of the skeleton. Fancy effects were used, so I am also seen standing on the wrist of the skeleton. |
Words are important, but so is the identity of the speaker. So since you’re taking the time to read my words, let me introduce myself.
My name is Elijah Eiler.
I’m studying to be a teacher of the visually impaired at
Illinois State University and claim to have an honorary minor in urban
education (but we can talk more about that later).
I’ve been kidnapped by Jesus, or I’ve chosen to follow him,
or whatever words make the most sense to you.
I talk too much in classes. I post too much on facebook. I
spend too much time with thoughts that quickly leave me.
So here’s a place to hold those thoughts, to let them be
examined and reworked and reformed.
I hope to take these thoughts and bring them into my faith,
bring them into my vocation, and bring both into each other. I hope to see
divine love and justice in the education system, to see classrooms become
pieces of the Kingdom of God, to see some kind of transfiguration in the
schoolyard.

And I hope to do that with anyone who’s interested. So let’s
connect. I have facebook and twitter. My email's eceiler@ilstu.edu. Whatever works.
